“Mamas Moving Mountains”
Nature has a way of providing the perfect environment for healing. As Earth stewards, we are rewarded with the abundance of its beauty in a curative and therapeutic way. Nature nourishes us; this planet provides everything we need: delicious medicinal herbs, fruit and nut trees, grains, and vegetation. These plants will heal us from the inside out if applied or prepared correctly.
This planet provides geological features such as crystal gems that harness and carry specific healing properties. Hot springs’ healing powers have been reputed worldwide for thousands of years. More than forty times, Franklin D. Roosevelt traveled to Warm Springs, Georgia, to receive healing from its restorative waters. If you hike in that area, you will see an entire park dedicated to FDR.
And Jesus said unto them or verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. “ he told them.
Mathew 17:20 KJV
After getting a medical and spiritual wake-up call regarding her health, Y’Na Evans, owner, birth worker, and hiker, discovered nature’s healing and nurturing powers back in 2015. Subsequently, detoxing, making 180-degree lifestyle changes, and being intentional about her womb wellness practices allowed her to experience a major shift in her body and being.
Later, when supporting women throughout childbirth, she noticed that nature offers many benefits that would help postpartum mothers recover. Furthermore, she saw the absence of postpartum support groups for Black and Brown women in Georgia. This was very concerning, especially with the maternal mortality rate for Black women being the highest in the United States of America. In addition, the United States has the highest rate among developing countries. Georgia holds one of the highest in the country. 52 percent of these mortalities happen during the mothers’ postpartum year. This means these fatalities are happening more outside the birth space during postpartum and to Black mothers. These Hikes serve a multitude of purposes for a postpartum mother. “Mama’s Moving Mountains” Hikes provides community care, support groups, exercise, mental health, and the benefits of being in nature. We will have different mental health and self-care specialists to educate mothers on their postpartum journey to provide healthy outcomes.
